Socksmith Design was created to fill a niche market for novelty socks with an artistic touch.
Developed by Sockshop & Shoe Company after 20 years of retailing in the Specialty Hosiery and Footwear Marketplace in Santa Cruz, CA.
Eric & Ellen Gil saw a consolidation of better novelty hosiery lines being absorbed by larger less nimble and less creative larger institutions. We felt that it was an opportunity to create a smaller and leaner structure for a creative product that would serve the Specialty and Boutique Marketplace all across the US and beyond.
Our advantage is for designing unique collections of iconic and fresh design imagery that connects to a customer who looks for fun and unique socks as gifts for others and personal interest of fashion & fun for themselves.
Using inspiration from all forms of art, design & color in a fresh way gives a uniquely free thinking use of the knit medium that is sock art. Socks, we think should be fun and functional.
Designing in Santa Cruz, CA. is an advantage, because of the free thinking and creative environment that is Santa Cruz. Known for its funky artistic and surf communities - Santa Cruz is a special creative world that is unique to itself. We design from an artistic & entrepreneurial point of view. It is from this world that we at Socksmith Design bring a new sock line that breaks down some of the tradition and adds to what is the world of novelty socks. |
It is our goal to become a world class supplier to the Specialty Store community providing better hosiery products to a consumer that wants a unique product. While adding to the retaile's bottom line using a line of socks that speaks directly to the specialty store consumer in good and bad economic times. This is a product that we know from experience is recession resistant and full of fun at the same time. As retailers, we have tested and sold all of our designs.
